Motivational Interviewing is a set of techniques used to help clients find the internal motivation to make positive decisions and behavior changes. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.
Participants will become familiar with the following:
- Understand and discuss the main concepts and philosophy associated with motivational interviewing and stages of change.
- Implement motivational intervening interventions and techniques with client population being served.
- Use Stages of Change to conceptualize client cases and apply appropriate Motivational Intervening interventions.
